Christine E. Nunn, owner and executive chef of Picnic, has a simple way of doing business: word of mouth. Since her first catering job she has relied entirely on client satisfaction and referral to keep her business booming. It seems to work, since Picnic books months and sometimes well over a year in advance.
Chef Nunn began her career by chance. A former non-profit development director and special events planner, she was tired of paying top dollar for mediocre food. So, as an avid home cook, she began to cater her own events with great success. She took a break from the business world and graduated from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. While there, Food and Wine magazine named her top student chef in the country. She has also been featured in the American Culinary Review and Mise En Place.
Thanks to the inspired menus of Chef Nunn, her gourmet lunch spot Picnic has received rave reviews. The shoppe opened in March of 2005 and since then, The New York Times called her food pristine quality and little Picnic won the Readers Choice Award from New Jersey Monthly for best take-out in Northern Jersey.
Catering clients include various missions to the United Nations as well as many top New York based corporations. Picnic has catered many society weddings in New York and New Jersey.
Chef Nunn is also a sommelier and formerly was the fine dining critic for The Record, northern New Jerseys daily newspaper. Host of the cable television cooking show Cooking with Christine, she has lectured extensively and teaches numerous classes on French, Italian, and regional American cuisine.
