Picnic's Fall Menus

Well, sadly the days are getting shorter, there is a nip in the air…but what a perfect time to invite some guests over, warm some cider, and enjoy a worry-free night of entertaining courtesy of Picnic!

To bring in the new season, Picnic is offering a 15 % discount on a dinner party to all repeat customers. (Please note that Picnic is closed for vacation, October 9th – 22nd.)

And…thinking ahead to Thanksgiving, Picnic is ready and able to make your Thanksgiving dinner stress-free. We will deliver a complete dinner, including turkey, sides, and desserts. The turkey will be raw and ready to roast, the sides ready to re-heat. Delivery on Tuesday night and all day Wednesday. Prices depend on number of guests.

One last thing…Picnic is available for holiday entertaining. Waitresses, bartenders, bar-set ups, cocktails, wine pairings, hors d’oeuvres and full dinner parties and buffets are available. Book early for these, please!

Pumpkin and squash soup, nutmeg cream swirl, toasted pumpkin seeds served in miniature pumpkins
Roasted beet salad with oranges and champagne vinaigrette
Beef Carbonnade *
Homemade egg noodles tossed in fresh herbed butter
Sweet potato and carrot puree
Pumpkin ginger mousse

* Beef Carbonnade is a Belgian beef stew braised in dark beer and caramelized onions for a rich, lush mouth feel and taste.

Menu two

Carrot orange soup
Apple and walnut salad
Roasted herb rubbed game hens, tart cherry sauce
Puree of broccoli with crème fraiche
Wild rice pilaf
Chipotle-spiked dark chocolate mousse

Menu three

Beer and cheddar soup, herbed croutons
Slow-roasted cinnamon smoked pork loin chops
Beet and apple puree
Kale, sautéed in garlic butter
Roasted fruits with honey butter and nuts

Menu four

Cream of wild mushroom soup
Café salad
Braised short ribs of beef, hunter’s sauce over
Herbed smashed potato
Roasted red onions
Glazed carrots
Warm apple crisps

Mixed green salad, homemade organic honey dressing
Cassoulet *
Warm baked apples

* Cassoulet is a hearty French white-bean based stew filled with pork, lamb, sausages, duck. The preparation for this classic dish takes three days, then it must sit another day before it is finished with a crisp topping of herbed crumbs. It is such a hearty and warming dish, most people serve it with a simple salad and a loaf of rustic bread. A good wine is all it needs to make an impressive and memorable meal.

Tuscan white bean soup, peppered with rosemary and garlic
Homemade fettucine with rosemary, lemon zest and Roquefort
Pan seared cod, wrapped in prosciutto, lentil puree with root vegetables
Sautéed chard
Rustic bread with two dipping sauces
Panna cotta, fruit topped
